A fun fact about

Bill of Lading Data

In the past, when goods were transported by ships across vast distances, merchants and traders relied on Bills of Lading to keep track of the cargo's journey. These documents would be issued by the ship's captain or the shipping company and served as both a receipt for the goods received and a contract of carriage.

Interestingly, pirates and privateers were known to target ships carrying valuable cargo. To safeguard the contents and the Bill of Lading, merchants would hide the valuable goods in secret compartments on board and keep the Bill of Lading on their person or in another safe location. This way, if the ship was captured, the pirates would not know the exact details of the cargo, and the merchants could still claim ownership of the goods when reaching their destination.
